From April 2024, the College of Art and Design (4 years) has begun a new structure comprising the following departments: Department of Fine Arts, Department of Design and Crafts, Department of Cross-Disciplinary of Art and Design, and the Department of Collaborative Design.

People’s values and lifestyles are rapidly changing, and social problems such as the environment, the economy, and gender are becoming increasingly complex. To foster social harmony by pioneering innovative solutions, the power of arts and design is more essential than ever.
Joshibi University of Art and Design has practiced education that fosters “Female Independence” to contribute to building a society rich in creativity.
Sagamihara Campus is located in a lush green environment where students are provided with the time to deeply reflect on themselves, others, and how to enrich their lives, allowing them to fully develop the roots of their exploration. Suginami Campus is located in a tranquil metropolitan area where students have opportunities to expand their potential by connecting with society.
Moreover, we offer several opportunities to cultivate broad perspectives and personality, such as encountering extraordinary books in the library, engaging in programs beyond specific concentrations and fields, participating in attractive off-campus projects that connect students with people in society, and fostering close interactions with 24 international partner institutions.
Joshibi’s “careful education” cultivates each student’s individual abilities and fosters confidence through personalised interaction. Our graduates create new values in society with their independent spirit and initiative. We strive to empower women who embody Joshibi’s 125-year spirit and continue to create vibrant art and design work for the world.
