About Joshibi
<Founding Spirits>
The predecessor of Joshibi University of Art and Design, Private Women’s School of Fine Arts, published the reasons why higher education was necessary for women:
“To empower the self-reliance of women through the arts”
“To improve the social status of women”
“To produce women teachers in the arts”
It was in these spirits that the school was founded in 1900.

Heisei has ended and a new era: Reiwa begins. The year 2020 marks the 120th anniversary of the founding of Joshibi University of Art and Design. In this new era, we will continue to produce “independent women” that embody the school philosophy that Tamako Yokoi, the founder, has raised. It is a woman who obtains economic self-reliance, on the other hands, who has also “thinking power” and “energy to live” and can contribute to society. For this purpose, we provide not only learning environment for technique and expression but also diverse culture centered on “human” which is the starting point of art and design. Learning about humanity here will be the basis of all concepts produced in a society created by humans. It is a power that can be utilized not only as a creator and an artist but also in any field in the future. I myself am also one of the graduates of Joshibi. I am feeling that the period when I have been able to immerse myself with no care for the existence of other-sex peers has been a valuable and irreplaceable in my long life. In addition, a great strength among Joshibi students is that they have a good balance of being able to respect the individuality of one another without flocking together while keeping cooperativity. Those who put themselves in such a rare environment are connected with each other across departments, ages and countries even after graduation. Such lateral communication unique to Joshibi will surely bring rich expansion to their future lives. The age in which science and technology led by AI are developing more and more will also become a time when art and design will be more reassessed. The power and sensibility of art and design are also needed to enhance the creativity of math and science and broaden them to the outside. With beyond the conventional thinking, in order to take advantage of what you will learn here and play on a global stage in many fields, let’s cultivate the power to live and power to think, and gain the freedom to choose more possibilities at Joshibi.

关于女子美
<建学理念>
女子美术大学的前身是私立女子美术学校指出了女子高等教育的必要性，
以「通过艺术实现女性独立」
「提高女性的社会地位」
「培养专业的技术家和美术教师」
为教育理念，于1900年建校。
<校长致辞>
从平成到令和，全新时代拉开帷幕，女子美也将于2020年迎来建校120周年。无论时代如何变迁，我们依旧基于创始人横井玉子提出的办学理念，将不断培养出独立女性人才。即不仅经济独立，还具备思考能力和社会生活能力，并能够贡献于社会的女性。为此，我校以技能及表达方面的教学为本，致力于培养以作为艺术与设计的原点——“人”为中心的多方面修养。在此对于人类的深层学习将是社会生活中所有创意的源泉，不仅是创造者或艺术家，未来在任何领域都能够得以应用。
我曾经也是在女子美学习的一名学生。我深刻地感受到：在女子美，我无需在意异性的存在和他人的目光，能够全身心投入到自己喜欢的事情上。这段时光在我漫长的人生中是非常珍贵且无可取代的。女子美学子的最大魅力在于既拥有合作精神又不会蜂拥成群，尊重自我与他人的个性并能把握两者间的平衡。正是同处于这种特殊环境中的伙伴，在毕业后也能够建立起超越学科、年龄和国籍的联系。这种女子美特有的自然产生的横向联系，一定会给未来的人生带来丰富的扩展。
当下是以人工智能为首的科学技术不断进步的时代，同时也是艺术与设计重新被审视的时代。艺术设计的力量与感性正是提高理科思维、向外扩展所需要的，不受旧框架束缚，学以致用，今后在世界舞台上绽放光芒。让我们在女子美培养社会生活能力和思考能力，去追逐充满无限可能的自由吧

조시비에 대해
<건학 정신>
(여자미술대학)의 전신인 사립여자미술학교는 여성 고등교육의 필요성을 인식하고,
「예술에 의한 여성의 자립」,
「여성의 사회적 지위 향상」,
「전문 기술가·미술교사 양성」
을 건학 정신으로 1900년에 창설되었습니다.
<학장 메시지>
헤이세이에서 레이와로 새 시대가 막을 열었습니다. 그리고 2020년도에는 조시비가 창립 120주년을 맞이합니다.
우리들이 새 시대에도 변함없이 계속해서 배출해나갈 것은, 창립자 요코이 타마코가 내세운 건학정신이기도 한 ‘자립한 여성’입니다.
경제적 자립은 물론이고, 사고력과 생존력을 가지고 사회에 공헌할 수 있는 여성.
이를 위해서 조시비에서는 기술 및 표현에 대해 배우는 것은 물론이며, 아트 및 디자인의 원점인 ‘사람’을 중심으로 한 다양한 교양도 습득하게 됩니다.
조시비에서 배우게 되는 사람에 대한 심도 깊은 학습은, 사람이 창조해내는 사회에서 산출되는 것 모두의 발상의 기본이 됩니다.
그것은 장래에 크리에이터 및 아티스트로서 뿐만 아니라 어떤 분야에서도 살려나갈 수 있는 능력입니다.
저 자신도 과거 조시비에서 배운 한 사람으로서, 이성의 존재를 의식하지 않고 주위에 신경쓸 필요 없이 좋아하는 일에 몰두할 수 있었던 시간은, 긴 인생 가운데에서도 아주 소중하며 무엇과도 바꿀 수 없는 것이었음을 실감하고 있습니다.
또한, 협조성을 갖추고 있으면서도 결코 무리를 짓지 않고 자신과 타인의 개성을 존중할 수 있는 치우치지 아니함도 조시비 학생의 커다란 매력입니다.
그러한 흔치 않은 환경에서 같이 배운 사이이므로 졸업후에도 학과, 연령, 국적을 초월하여 서로 관계를 이어나가게 됩니다.
조시비만의 자연스러운 횡적 관계는 분명 장래 인생에도 풍성한 발전을 가져다줄 것입니다.
AI를 필두로, 과학과 기술이 점점 더 진화하게 될 앞으로의 시대는, 동시에 아트 및 디자인이 보다 각광받을 시대이기도 할 것입니다.
자연계열의 창조성을 고양시켜 외부로 펼쳐나가기 위해서도, 아트 및 디자인의 파워와 감성이 필요시되고 있습니다.
종래의 틀에 얽매이지 않고, 조시비에서의 배움을 다양한 분야에서 살리며, 세계를 무대로 활약해나가는 것.
그러기 위해서는 반드시 조시비에서 생존력, 사고력, 그리고 보다 많은 가능성을 선택할 수 있는 자유를 키워 나갑시다.
