Japanese Painting
Targets ability to freely produce new Japanese painting works based on traditional techniques.
Japanese painting has developed as an art form with a unique Japanese esthetic Its appeal lies in its rich expression of nature and spirit using a Japanese interpretation, which is achieved through the use of many natural materials. This concentration enhances depiction ability (essential in Japanese painting) and composition ability, and covers the foundations of Japanese painting, which consist of learning to use traditional materials such as Japanese paper, pigments, brushes, picture frames, and foil. The goal is to bring individual students to a point where they can use traditional techniques to freely express modern Japanese painting that embodies rich artistic sensibilities.

First year: Building basic skills and deepening understanding of materials
In the first year students learn techniques for accurate viewing and rendering of objects while gaining familiarity with Japanese painting materials. By drawing and sketching plants, landscapes, animals and so forth, they acquire basic knowledge and technical skills that are the foundation of Japanese painting. Also, by learning the practical skills in other concentrations, they widen their range of perspective and creativity.
Second year: Broadening range of expression through studies of materials and techniques
While heightening depiction and composition abilities, students intensively study the basics of ink wash painting and grow both technically and mentally. They conduct research on materials, such as paint mixing and papermaking, and also make copies after the classics. In addition, students learn various materials and techniques of other concentrations and solidify foundations for production of free, original and contemporary Japanese paintings.
Third year: Viewing own work objectively and exploring relation between subject and style
Students tackle large-scale works, drawing and painting the human body and depicting freely chosen subjects, cultivating their own original approaches to Japanese painting. Also, by deepening their study of classical techniques, they acquire knowledge of diverse modes and materials. Students broaden the horizons of their Japanese painting work and clarify their themes as individual artists.
Fourth year: Applying knowledge and experience gained so far to large-scale works
In the first semester, students freely produce two 1.6-meter canvases, and in the second semester, they make paintings over two meters in size, with freely chosen themes, as graduation projects. They aim to create unique works by expanding individual ideas through close dialogue with faculty. Students make full use of their accumulated abilities and heighten their self-awareness as artists.

继承传统，以自由的全新日本画为目标。
日本画诞生于日本独有的美学意识。通过使用众多自然素材，反映所孕生出的日本的自然观、精神观，丰富表现是其魅力所在。本专业在提升日本画所不可或缺的描绘能力和构图能力的同时，还将熟练使用和纸、岩颜料、毛笔、裱糊、金属箔等传统材料作为基础知识。我们的目标是在继承传统的基础之上，使日本画能在每一位学生的自由、现代、丰富的感性中生根发芽。
<日本画专业的教学计划>
第一学年: 提高基础能力，加深对素材的理解。
学生在接触日本画画具的同时，正确理解对象物，并掌握描画技术。通过对植物、风景以及动物等的素描和写生，掌握基本的日本画创作的基础知识和造型能力。此外，学生还将通过学习其他专业的技法，培养广阔的视野和创造力。
第二学年: 研究素材和技法，丰富自身的艺术表现
学生在提高绘画能力和造型能力的同时，集中学习水墨表现的基础知识，力求取得技能上和精神上的进步。学生还将进行颜料调制和抄纸等的素材研究，通过临摹进行古典研究。并且学习其他专业所用材料技法等多种表现形式，为自由地创作具有独自个性的现代日本画打下坚实的基础。
第三学年: 客观理解自己的创作，探索主题和表达的关系。
学生将致力于人体素描、人体创作和自由创作等大型作品制作活动，并不断地将其发展为独自的日本画的表达形式。此外，学生还通过加深对古典技法的学习，掌握多种表达技法及有关素材的知识。拓宽日本画创作的视野，明确自身所要表达的主题。
第四学年: 倾注所学的全部知识和实践经验，挑战大型作品
上学期进行2幅100号的自由创作，下学期自选主题创作一幅150号左右的毕业作品。在师生密切沟通交流的基础上充分发挥学生自身的想象力，力争创作出富于独自个性的作品。通过全心全力的毕业创作来提高学生作为艺术工作者的自我意识。
일본화 전공
전통을 바탕으로 자유롭고 새로운 일본화를 지향한다
일본의 독자적인 미의식 속에서 성장해 온 일본화. 그 매력은 많은 자연소재를 이용함으로써 탄생되는 일본의 자연관, 정신관을 반영한 풍부한 표현에 있습니다. 본 전공에서는 일본화에 빼놓을 수 없는 묘사력과 구성력을 향상시키면서 일본전통지, 돌가루 물감, 붓, 표구, 금은박 등 전통적인 재료를 자유자재로 사용하는 것을 기본으로 하고 있습니다. 전통을 바탕으로 학생 개개인의 자유롭고 현대적이며 풍부한 감성에 기인한 일본화를 추구합니다.
<일본화 전공 커리큘럼>
1학년: 기초력을 높이고 소재에 대한 이해를 심화한다.
1학년은 일본화의 소재에 친숙해지면서 대상물을 정확히 파악하고 묘사하는 기술을 습득합니다. 식물, 풍경, 동물 등의 데생과 사생을 통해 일본화 제작의 베이스가 되는 기초지식과 조형력을 습득합니다. 또한 다른 전공의 실기도 배워 폭넓은 시야와 창조력을 기릅니다.
2학년: 소재와 기술을 연구해 표현의 폭을 넓힌다.
묘사력과 조형력을 높이면서 수묵 표현의 기본을 집중적으로 배워 기술과 정신 양쪽의 향상을 도모합니다. 물감 만들기와 종이 뜨기 등으로 소재를 연구하고, 모사를 통해 고전도 연구합니다. 나아가 다른 전공의 다양한 재료기법도 배워 자유롭고 개성적인 현대 일본화를 그리기 위한 토대를 확실히 다집니다.
3학년: 객관적으로 자신의 제작물을 이해하고 주제와 표현의 관계를 모색한다.
인체 데생, 인체 제작, 자유제작 등의 대작에 도전해 독자적인 일본화 표현으로 발전시켜 나갑니다. 또한 고전기법의 학습을 심화해 다양한 표현기법과 소재에 관한 지식도 습득합니다. 일본화 제작에 대한 시야를 넓히고 각자의 표현 테마를 명확히 합니다.
4학년: 지금까지 축적한 지식과 경험을 결집해 대작에 도전한다.
전기에 100호의 자유제작을 2점, 후기에는 졸업제작으로서 자유테마로 150호 정도의 작품 제작을 실시합니다. 교원과 자주 대화하면서 각자의 발상을 넓혀 개성이 풍부한 작품제작을 추구합니다. 지금까지 쌓아 온 능력을 남김 없이 발휘해 작가로서의 의식을 높입니다.
